Prolonged Eye Contact

I’m not 100% sure what this is referring to, but I’m going to assume that you mean the blowup between trans* people and cis feminists that happened a couple days ago.

The posts more or less go in a chronological fashion starting on February 18th (on page 4 of my tumblr, as of right now), right after the Whitney Houston antichoice propaganda poster. If you start there and read towards the beginning of my blog (newer posts) everything is laid out pretty thoroughly.

Essentially the whole thing started with these two posts [here, here]. Cydne [inflateablefilth] was upset because feminists were rallying around Unknowablewoman (Raven) in her whole mess with Ryking on the politics tag. She was the victim in that scenario but the things she says about other people on tumblr is pretty vile and she refuses to be inclusive of the trans* community in regards to reproductive justice issues, particularly abortion. I ended up posting a few other bloggers responses to those two posts because I didn’t really have the spoons to get into the discussion heavily [can be be found on pages 3+4 right now]. Essentially cissexist feminists were arguing that they can’t be inclusive because trans* people aren’t being targeted by antichoicers, and we’re just collateral damage. That’s pretty fucking offensive.

Then the next day a lot of cis feminists were doubling down and rallying around her because apparently asking for inclusivity is a “what about the menz?” argument. It’s not, and suggesting such a thing is disingenuous and a form of purposeful misgendering. Some posts about this topic can be found [here, here, here, here, and here].

I’m sorry I don’t have more energy to be more thorough, but I think this is an okay start. Feel free to ask more questions if needed. I’ll try to get them in a timely fashion.
