nounbeast replied to your post: TW: CISSEXISM
Wow @ the blatant trans* erasure there. That last line in the quote hhhnnnnngh. Also lol, pardon me if refusing to cave to the patriarchy’s expectation that I fuck only for procreating wrecks someone else’s ability to label me a ~proper lady~.
Yeah, both examples pretty much blew my mind. But what’s worse is seeing supposed allies reblogging both of them all day, rightfully disgusted, but with zero commentary on a) the blatant trans* erasure and cissexism or b) any inkling of self-awareness that the prochoice side acts exactly like this. Not only that, but they feel entitled to do so.

So guess who was banned from posting on the Facebook page “Pro-Lifers Thanking Susan G. Komen”?
Apparently I’m quite the threat. All my truthiness was a little too much for them to handle. Honestly #FetusLobby, I’m flattered.
And thankfully I got screenshots of all my major comments in the event something like this happened. [I’m going to try to come back later and add image descriptions to all these. I just wanted to get this out asap. I apologize.]
First there was this thread:

In which I posted the following comments (now gone):

A link to the pdf in that comment.
Then there was this thread:

In which I posted the following comments (now gone). Note, I neglected to say people instead of women, I’m sorry:

Then there was this thread which was trying to peddle the erroneous link between abortion and breast cancer:

I didn’t screenshot my comment but I provided a link to my blog post thoroughly refuting this claim. My comment was between Elida Mulford and Kate Anderson at the bottom. Note how ridiculous Kate’s comment is in response to a slew of scientific proof they’re lying: “I think women often lie about their past sins. Theirs no way to be sure their breast cancer isn’t due to their promiscous behavior.” Uh-huh.
Next was this thread:

Obviously my comments are now gone.
Then there was this comment:

I don’t have a screenshot, but I again posted the link to my blog refuting this erroneous claim. It’s gone.
And best of all guyz, was this post:

Now here is a shot of my comment they deleted:

How nice of you antis for erasing the truth from your page in favor of keeping your supporters clueless and misinformed. Ask yourselves why you have to blatantly lie to make this politically motivated decision palatable.
Capital One offers "pro-life" card that gives money to anti-choice organizations
Gross. Glad I have a citi card. Although, well, all credit card companies are awful. I also like how the fonts are in binarist blue and pink. Yo dog I heard you like gender roles, so I put gender roles in your gender roles so you can reinforce the binary while you reinforce the binary.
Blaaaaah.

You know what’s really funny?
An anti-choice website called “prochoice.com”
Lol “pro-choice” my ass. Smh -___-
Wow. Talk about anti-choice manipulation at work once again. And that site hasn’t even been updated since 2009. That’s some dedication.
Yep.
A lot of seemingly pro-choice sites are fake. It’s like an internet version of a crisis pregnancy center. Come in there looking for help or maybe just research, get lies and propaganda.

(I’ve actually been looking for this site for a long time!)
Great. It’s even worse than I thought :/
Interesting information from Open Secrets about antichoice lobbying. Prochoice information can be found here. It’s interesting because it appears that antichoice has less money yet they are able to push through one piece of bad legislation after another.
Hey “#Prolife”!
Infanticide (noun):
- The crime of killing a child within a year of birth
- The practice in some societies of killing unwanted children soon after birth
- A person who kills an infant, esp. their own child
Abortion (noun):
- The deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy
- The expulsion of a fetus from the uterus by natural causes before it is able to survive independently
- The arrest of the development of an organ, typically a seed or fruit
- An object or undertaking regarded by the speaker as unpleasant or badly made or carried out
See the difference?
Saying “people regret their abortions, so it should be illegal”, is just as ridiculous as saying “people regret having kids, everyone should be sterilized.”
But…but…we endorse pregnancy as a mandatory duty to the state choice so no one is ever allowed to regret that!!!1!!**
**except if you’re a poc, poor, a drug addict, on welfare, a muslim, or an “illegal alien.” then we’d like to sterilize you for our your own good.

I wish pro-choice could collectively agree to use “embryo” whenever possible when discussing abortion.
Antichoicers like to throw around words like “preborn”, “unborn child”, and “baby” when what they really mean is zygote, blastocyst, embryo, and fetus. We are absolutely right to correct their emotional euphemisms with medical terminology, that’s not why I object to the rampant use of “fetus.” It’s that even when we (or they) say fetus, the word still brings to mind a full-term, about-to-be-born fetus that people equivocate in their minds with a baby. Now if you really are discussing fetuses or late-term abortion procedures specifically than of course the word is applicable, but if we’re only discussing abortion in general I really think we shouldn’t cede to the use of fetus when embryo is much more logical. We all know that 78.9% of abortions happen at 10 weeks LMP or earlier (or while it’s still in the embryonic stage), therefore if we want to frame and take control of the debate we should use “embryo.” Not only is it factual, but it also simply doesn’t carry the emotional weight of other terms, which is precisely why antichoicers shy away from using it. We need to remind people whenever possible that what we are discussing is this:
not this:
or any of the antichoice fetus gore pr0n they are so fond of.
Still relevant.
Molly Redden: A Promising New Law That Pushes Back Against Deceptive Anti-Abortion Centers
The New Republic || December 8, 2011
Excerpt:
In October, San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors passed an ordinance that banned misleading advertisements for the city’s crisis pregnancy centers. The ordinance allows courts to fine crisis pregnancy centers, which counsel pregnant women against abortion, up to $500 every time they falsely imply in advertisements that they offer abortion services. First Resort, Inc., one of the centers singled out by the law, responded with a suit accusing the city of a First Amendment violation in less than a month. The case is now going to the United States District Court for Northern California.
[…]
The activities of First Resort appeared to San Francisco city officials to occupy the more duplicitous end of this spectrum. San Francisco’s city attorney says the non-profit center has paid to be the first Google result when a person searches for “abortion San Francisco.” Although First Resort’s website includes “pre and post abortion counseling” among its services, lists abortion as an option for unwanted pregnancy, and features a testimonial from a client who chose to have an abortion, First Resort CEO Shari Plunkett says the primary reason for its existence is to prevent abortions. And, crucially, nowhere on its website does First Resort disclose that it does not offer abortions or referrals to abortion providers. Omissions like these are at the core of the claim that the center misleads through false advertising.
The San Francisco ordinance addresses these matters using a different tactic than past legislation. Other laws—such as the New York version—have attempted to compel speech, requiring crisis centers to post signs informing women that they do not provide abortion services or that the government recommends fully-licensed medical facilities. Steven Shiffrin, a law professor at Cornell University and a First Amendment expert, explains that while laws compelling speech have proven vulnerable, there is ample judicial precedent behind laws that target advertising. “There’s no constitutional right to deceive,” he says.
In part because of this distinction, there is hope among pro-choice activists that this will be the law that sticks. Amy Everitt, the state director for NARAL Pro-Choice California, said she is very optimistic this could be a working model for cities elsewhere. “We’re not trying to interfere in any way with what they tell their clients once those clients are inside their doors. … This is not about a First Amendment right to free speech. This is about false advertising.”

I thought it was really well done and surprisingly impartial to both sides of the abortion debate.
It’s set in a Crisis Pregnancy Center as well as an abortion clinic that are right across the street from each other.
Interviews are done to explore the feelings and thoughts of the people who either visit the CPC, abortion clinic, or both.
My girlfriend and I were appalled by the language and misinformation the CPC vomited all over these poor, confused people who were desperate for help but instead received lies and unnecessary guilt tripping.
Again, the bias in either side of the debate was absent.
But it was clear that one side was manipulating and lying to people, and the other side was there simply to support them. You simply need to rely on facts and your own logic to figure out which was which.
You all should take the time to watch it and let me know what you think!
It’s only 80 minutes long, so go get some snacks and watch it.

Trigger warning: mention of rape and incest
Because there’s nothing quite like being a patronizing pro-death* rape and incest apologist asshole with a tumblr.
*This is pro-death.
No, no no NO. You don’t get to say shit like this @remadebyhisgrace. Did you happen to miss the part where the girl was fucking raped by a family member? How about the part where she was so young her body was not physically capable of giving birth? There have been 5 year olds that menstruate and are capable of getting pregnant. That doesn’t mean that they should or that they’ll survive. How dare you be so glib about something like this.

I’ve seen this post going around tumblr in regards to the Salvation Army’s position and beliefs about homosexuality. Just wanted to let my followers know, who may not have noticed, that they also have an official position on abortion. Of course they do, why stop at people’s love lives?!
Abortion
The Salvation Army believes in the sanctity of all human life and considers each person to be of infinite value and each life a gift from God to be cherished, nurtured and redeemed. Human life is sacred because it is made in the image of God and has an eternal destiny. (Genesis 1:27) Sacredness is not conferred, nor can it be taken away by human agreement.
The Salvation Army deplores society’s ready acceptance of abortion, which reflects insufficient concern for vulnerable persons, including the unborn. (Psalms 82:3-4)
The Salvation Army holds to the Christian ideals of chastity before marriage and fidelity within the marriage relationship and, consistent with these ideals, supports measures to prevent crisis pregnancies. It is opposed to abortion as a means of birth control, family planning, sex selection or for any reason of mere convenience to avoid the responsibility for conception. Therefore, when an unwanted pregnancy occurs, The Salvation Army advises that the situation be accepted and that the pregnancy be carried to term, and offers supportive help and assistance with planning.
The Salvation Army recognizes tragic and perplexing circumstances that require difficult decisions regarding a pregnancy. Such decisions should be made only after prayerful and thoughtful consideration, with appropriate involvement of the woman’s family and pastoral, medical and other counsel. A woman in these circumstances needs acceptance, love and compassion.
When an abortion has taken place, The Salvation Army will continue to show love and compassion and to offer its services and fellowship to those involved.

Several of my family members have been turned away by our local Salvation Army. They’re creepy as all hell, they actually consider themselves an army, they’re willing to close down their soup kitchens in NYC if they’re forced to offer health benefits to the partners of gay employees, and members can be kicked out if they marry outside the “army.” Nope, they will not be getting any of my hard earned money. Here’s some great charities that can always use your time and money, though.
